Isabelle Pirah Akute, Projects Director
Isabelle realised her passion for giving back to society when she was still an undergraduate at Strathmore University, where she got an opportunity to serve as a volunteer through The Community Outreach programme run by the university. This afforded her an opportunity to interact with people from all walks of life, as she was able to work with orphanages, prisons and hospitals to lend a hand whenever the need arose. It is this passion and the need to give back to her community that led Isabelle to Tuwakuze Africa. She joined Tuwakuze in 2014 as a volunteer and got the opportunity to mentor the children in Victorious Joy and Bethsaida on education, careers and general life issues. This was the beginning of a remarkable journey with Tuwakuze.
She is currently the Projects Director at Tuwakuze, a role she took up in January 2016 and her main role is to ensure all projects that Tuwakuze undertakes are achieved within set timelines and resources provided and are also aligned to our 3 year strategic plan. She believes that no one can do everything for everyone but everyone can do something for someone.
And as Mother Teresa once said, “I alone cannot change the world but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples”, Isabelle says working with Tuwakuze is her stone, and she is hoping to impact the lives of as many children as she can.
